- According to reports, he left his partner of 27 years with who he has two kids, to marry a woman he met on Facebook
- His partner who was worried about his disappearance, discovered the news when his wedding pictures emerged online

Malcolm McGregor left his family worried when he went missing after he left their home in Motherwell to supposedly visit a relative in Kilmarnock just 34 miles away. However, their worry turned to hurt and anger when they discovered the truth.

The 38-year-old man who has been with his childhood sweetheart, Cheryl Cowie, for 27 years, left her and their two kids to go marry his 35-year-old Facebook love, Bell Valek in Utah, US.

According to The Sun, his location was discovered when he posed in wedding snaps posted online a few days after he was reported missing to the police. His 37-year-old partner, Cowie was horrified and heartbroken after seeing the photos of an excited McGregor and his new wife who has already taken up his last name.

Friends of Cowie expressed their surprise at the turn of event as they both seemed like the perfect couple.

One friend said: “It’s just awful. It must have been devastating for Cowie to see those pics. Malcolm and Cheryl are childhood sweethearts. They’ve been together for over 20 years - they met at school.

They have two kids and seemed like the perfect family. But all of a sudden he just upped and left. It’s crazy what’s happened. They just don’t know what has gotten into him - it’s just so out of character. To say his family are devastated is an understatement.”

Cowie who eclined to comment on the split when contacted by The Sun, shared cryptic posts on Facebook, including: “Knowing you’re being lied to is worse than being hurt by the truth.”
