MAPOLY UPDATE: MAPSRC meets the RECTOR

MAPSRC meets the RECTOR over commencement of examination, ASUP and other pressing matters.

Following the on-going crisis in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic which has brought about delay in the commencement of the 2017/2018 second semester examination, the Students' Representative Council (SRC) under the leadership of RT. Hon Durodola Folorunsayo took a huge step towards putting an end to the sufferings and worries of Mapaites.
The SRC speaker with his principal officers met with the Rector of the polytechnic today Friday 18th January, 2019 to deliberate and find lasting solutions to issues causing the delay in the commencement of the examination.
The meeting which lasted for 2 and half hours between the legislative arm of the union (SRC) and the Rector led to the resolution that Students' academics and wellbeing is paramount to the school management as he (The Rector) said and I quote: "WE WILL RESUME AND WE WILL DO THE EXAM"
He (The Rector) pointed to two major reasons for the delay in the commencement of the examination which are
1. Asup national strike
2. Non-payment of staff's November, 2017 salary.
He also made it known that the issue is not about the ASUP strike particularly, as the exam will commence irrespective of Asup's decision only if the November 2017 salary can be paid, as all necessary materials needed for the Examination has been put in place.
He (The Rector) also stated that he knows that there is a problem and he has been battling it now for weeks and with his tenacity, it will be resolved soonest, as he believes that the school management and the government are now pulling in one direction. He also stated that the Governor has been supportive as he has been paying salaries through other sources even though the school's revenue has gone down.
Finally, he indulge us not to go into violence as the solution we seek is around the corner.
He further said he will be holding more meetings with other stakeholders today and the outcome will be made known to us Tomorrow through the Speaker.
