A group of 12 nurses working in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Banner Desert Medical Centre in Mesa, Arizona are pregnant at the same time.
According to reports gathered, the nurses didn’t realize how many of them were pregnant at the same time until they started a Facebook group chat for pregnant workers at the hospital.

Speaking on the happy coincidence, a nurse identified as Ashley Atkins said the sheer volume of pregnant nurses in the same department of the hospital has left staff wondering “what’s in the water.”
“This isn’t an easy job to have when you’re pregnant and not feeling well all the time, so it’s nice to share stories and have that support, and then you find out how supportive your co-workers are of you, and your management team, so it’s been a good experience,” she said.
A source gathered that a Banner official said the hospital has been planning for the looming nurse shortage for months now. The nurses, who are due between September and February, will go on maternity leave for 12 weeks.
"The 16 nurses are from three different critical care units," said Heather Francis, nursing director for various ICU units at Banner.
The hospital gave each pregnant nurse a special onesie to celebrate the occasion.
Congratulations to them all.
