JAMB Establishes New System For Conducting Examinations For Blind Candidates

Candidates with visual, speech and hearing impairments would no longer face difficulties while writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME ), as the Joint
Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has set up a new methodology in conducting the examination.

This was made known by Professor Okebukola after a meeting with JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede yesterday where the board had agreed that his group should be allowed to implement effective ways in conducting exams for special candidates.
He said the group which handled blind and visually inspired candidates was directed by the registrar to include those with speech and hearing impairments.
He said “We are here to get the directive of JAMB on the new methodology for implementing UTME 2019 for blind candidates. Our previous methodology depends on what the candidates are used to such as the Braille and laptops.
And so we want improve on the administration of test for blind candidates,” he said.
He said special candidates would from now on; take exam in higher institutions that run special education courses especially the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
