Nigeria Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has appealed to the Federal Government and the organised Labour unions to reach a compromise over the minimum wage.

Saraki made this statement in a tweet on Monday.
“The FG and Organised Labour can still shift their positions before the commencement of the proposed strike action so that we do not create further tension for our economy,” Saraki said.
Organised labour is seeking an upward review of the current minimum wage from N18,000 to N30,000 and had threatened to commence a nationwide strike on November 6 if their demands are not met.
In an attempt to salvage looming indefinite strike, members of the tripartite committee and some members of the organized labour unions earlier met on Monday.
The meeting which was held in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Members of the committee are expected to sign the final report at today’s meeting and thereafter forward it to the SGF, Boss Mustapha, for onward transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari.
